Best Drugstore Loose Settings Powders (You Must Have!)

Setting your face with powder is a must-do step for making your base last all day. How you set says a lot about your makeup preferences! For me, I like using a combination of powders, both loose and translucent, and a pigmented pressed powder in order to set certain areas. Today I want to focus on Loose setting powders I have tried and what my favorites are!

1. Coty Airspun Powder

You guys can smell this one just on the picture! I have had this powder since high school, way back when it was served in a cardboard container that made a gigantic mess in the drawer. I obviously knew what I was doing despite the strong grandma smell because this powder is a dream. It is so perfectly milled and performs exactly like a high-end product. The price for the amount you get is unbeatable and it’s one of the only things I like to use to set my under eyes.

2. Bareminerals Mineral Veil Finishing Powder

AH, another high school throwback! Senior year I traded in my Airspun powder and Covergirl foundation to try out Bareminerals! You had to order it on the phone back then and it was not available in Ulta. Heck, we didn’t even have Ulta. When I wore this for the first time to school every one of my friends told me that my skin looked absolutely amazing. After awhile I found that just wearing the veil over some concealer was enough to give me a beautiful natural look. The entire Bareminerals line is a great makeup line to try out but I am obsessed with the veil as an all-over finishing powder even over my liquid foundations.

3. Makeup Revolution Loose Baking Powder

This powders strength is its amazing shade range. 11 different tones to choose from in order to get the look you want. The most popular is the banana powder, which is a total Ben Nye dupe even down to the packaging. People love banana powders because of the brightening effect that the yellow has to balance out purple under-eye circles. You can’t beat the price of this for how much powder you have. It is perfect for baking, using a damp beauty blender just pack on the powder to areas you want highlighted and wait before wiping excess away.

4. Maybelline Fit Me! Loose Finishing Powder

We all know my love of the Fit Me line by now, having a vast shade range and good products this is a must-try line and this powder is no exception! It comes in 8 shades which go very deep, and the texture of this powder is divine. This genuinely performs as well as the Laura Mercier high end finishing powder and it may even be a dupe. I find my makeup just stays set in place all day and gives a sheer tint to add just a slight amount of extra coverage to my skin.

5. Beauty Bakerie

We have to talk about this amazing company. Female owned, and with some of the best dang packaging I have ever seen in my life, honestly, these products are worth there high-end price tag. The Face Flour is vegan and comes in this super cute bag like a bag of flour and then is taken out to show the beautiful package beneath. This helps to reduce fine lines and imperfections and I do feel my makeup lasts longer. They also say that you can use the deeper shades to bronze!

6. NYX Set It & Don’t Fret It Matte Finishing Powder

This powder is a true matte powder for a porcelain skin look. It gives a sheer wash of color to your face for slightly added coverage and it truly does add extra-long wear. This is no-frills no-fuss powder and Nyx is just so consistent with their products that you truly can’t go wrong.

7. Covergirl Professional Loose Powder

This is another product that brings me back because I vividly remember having this through college. The packaging feels more luxurious than the price demands, what is really standing out about this product is that it contains Noxema ingredients, so for those with acne, it could potentially help skin clear.

8. Wet N Wild Photo Focus Loose Setting Powder

Order Now

Photofocus line from Wet N Wild is just so fantastic. They killed it with the foundation and then they came out with the loose powder to match! Its meant to create a soft-focus look and smooth lines. The entire collection is meant to be used in photography and look amazing on your night out. Cruelty-free, gluten-free, and fragrance-free.

9. Revlon PhotoReady Candid Anti-Pollution Setting Powder

This one is newer for me, but I am loving what I have tried so far. This powder touts that it has antioxidants and anti-pollution ingredients. I love the packaging and sifter on this one it’s very easy to use. This one is air light and feels almost like your skin has been airbrushed. I am excited to use it more.

10. Flower Beauty Miracle Matte Translucent Finishing Powder

Now, this packaging is gorgeous. However, It is bulky and won’t fit in your drawer. Luckily this is good enough to use every day and looks beautiful on your nightstand. Flower has consistently been killing it with their products. I like to apply this one in the T Zone because the powder does seem to be very oil-absorbing. This stuff minimizes shine and helps with my pores. This one is great for oily girls.

So, as you can see, I am mildly obsessed with powders and have been since my teens. I feel like I have tried a huge selection of them and this is a comprehensive list for every skin type for you to try out.
