1. E.L.F Cosmetics Hydrating Face Primer

Shop Now: Amazon

So we will start with a primer which is always a good start to your foundation. I don’t always think it’s necessary to have a primer on when you have a good foundation on, but if you want to just smooth out your skin and maybe do a powder only day a primer can help keep things smooth. This is supposedly one of the best selling primers in America. I like the feel of this stuff, it has that silicone type texture that smooths over pores, but it still does feel hydrating. I think its a good in the middle product that everyone would like for any skin type.

2. L’oreal Infallible Fresh Wear 24 Hr Foundation

Shop Now: Amazon

This is my foundation pick for a couple of reasons. I find this applies easily and can be applied with either a foundation brush or a sponge. It comes in 3o Shades so most should be able to find one that works. It is buildable and a more full coverage product that is very long-lasting. This one always holds up all day for me and I think for a beginner it would be perfect. This foundation can be set with powder or not set and left for a more skin-like finish.

3. Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer

Shop Now: Amazon

This concealer has been a fan favorite for so many years and it is really easy to see why. The coverage is full but never looks cakey or heavy, it feels hydrating and is super easy to apply with the small sponge on top. I usually swipe on a few swipes and then pat out with my fingers. So easy to use and buildable.

4. Maybelline Fit Me Loose Finishing Powder

Shop Now: Amazon

So you can set your face all over or just set under eyes for long-wearing concealer.  I mentioned this powder as one of our favorites in the Top Loose Powders post, and I truly think this would be great for a beginner. If you only want to set your concealer or do a light brush of powder all over your face this one will help with both. Having a variety of shades or skin tones it should work for most.

5. Physicians Formula Murumuru Butter Bronzer

Shop Now: Amazon

This is such a fantastic bronzer I can’t believe it isn’t more expensive. What pulled me in was the shade range. I am really fair and needed a very light bronzer that isn’t totally orange. The lightest shade in this is great and just a nice warmth. What keeps me coming back in this one is that it blends like an absolute dream and starts off super subtle and can be built up more for contouring or if you have a summer tan. I am obsessed. You need to try this!

6. Essence Satin Touch Blush

Shop Now: Ulta

This may be one of the cheaper options I list. for only 3 bucks this blush blends like its high end. I know there are only 2 shades but I think both could be universally flattering. It is such a no-fuss flattering everyday blush that I know most people wouldn’t find it too intense or too pigmented and it will just help to finish out any look.

7. Wet N Wild MegaGlo Highlighting Powder

Shop Now: Amazon

I swear even people who only buy high-end products probably still have one of these highlighters in their collection. It won an Allure Best of Beauty award and it’s much deserved. These are unbelievable and super pigmented! It could be sheered out for a more gentle look or you can build it up for a wet cheek look. I can honestly say I get the most compliments on my highlight when I wear this one!

8. Catrice Prime and Fine Dewy Setting Spray

Shop Now: Ulta

When its time to set your base this is my current favorite. They do have a more matte version of this spray if dewy isn’t your thing, but the mister on this spray feels like high end and helps to blend all the powders together. It also does help my makeup to stay all day.

9. Makeup Revolution Reloaded Palettes

Shop Now: Ulta

I had to really stop and think about what a good starter eyeshadow palette looks like. I wanted something not too expensive but still had a lot of color options and that was still easy to use. Makeup Revolution has consistently provided awesome eyeshadow palettes. They have some great dupes for High-end palettes as well as some originals. I am recommending the reloaded palettes because I think they are a fantastic value. I didn’t want to choose just one because everyone has a different skin tone but what’s great is these palettes have such a variety of tones in them that you can do different looks very easy with just the one palette. The bendability and ease of use is there with these, and for 7 bucks I feel like you could even grab two different ones.

10. L’Oreal Infallible Never Fail Eyeliner

Shop Now: Amazon

I wanted an easy liner for beginners, this is a gel pencil liner that is creamy, smooth, and easy to apply and these stay without transferring or smearing. All in all, this is just a great place to start without having the daunting task of a liquid liner.

11. Essence Lash Princess False Effect Mascara

Shop Now: Amazon

Ok, we have mentioned this one in our New Drugstore Makeup Fall 2019. This one is taking Youtube by storm and everyone is loving how affordable it is considering how amazing the results are. It separates and curls lashes up and out and because the brush is cone-shaped it helps to create that winged outlook and get into the smaller lashes.

12. E.L.F Instant Lift Brow Pencil

Shop Now: Ulta

Guys, you guys, this pencil is my holy grail trapped on a desert island with only one brow product pencil. It is only TWO DOLLARS! I mean, WHAT! This performs as well as a high-end pencil, is fast, easy, pigmented, creamy, and has a spoolie. I feel like I cannot sell this to you enough you have nothing to lose in picking this one up.

13. Nyx Butter Gloss

Shop Now: Amazon

I know most ladies have lipstick, lip pencil, and lip gloss in their collection but I wanted to pick just one lip product that can multitask and do it all. This stuff just rocks you guys. The gloss is not sticky, it smooths on easily, and has great pigment! These last fairly well too. Plus it has 24 shades so you could find your perfect neutral shade or a pop of color that would be beautiful with a neutral eye look.

I hope this will give you a good start to a new collection whether you are just starting to try out makeup or just looking for new affordable products to try. I will be posting a drugstore brush starter collection soon as well for those interested in that!
